Helen James, 87, of Neosho, passed away at Springhill Assisted Living on Jan. 13, 2009.

She was born near Cassville, on Dec. 9, 1921, the daughter of Clyde and Verna Feland White.

She attended Mount Sinai School, east of Cassville. The family moved to Washburn, where she graduated from high school in 1939.

She attended Draughn's Business College in Springfield. She worked at Camp Crowder from 1942 until 1946. She was a member of Neosho United Methodist Church.

She married Albert W. James Jr. on June 27, 1943, in Neosho. He died on Sept. l 1984.

Survivors include: a son, Larry James and his wife, Linda, of Neosho; a daughter, Patricia Swope and her husband, Kevin, of Fort Scott, Kan.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Norman White, of Tulsa, Okla.

A graveside service was held Friday at IOOF Cemetery, Monett, with Rev. Gene Cole officiating. a memorial service was held at Neosho United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry Seigel and Rev. Gene Cole officiating.

Arrangements were by Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
