Jack Steves, 75, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in the Missouri Veteran's Home, Mt. Vernon.

He was born May 14, 1933, in Santa Monica, Calif., the son of Charles Richard and Lillian L. (Wiser) Steves, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one son, Richard Edward Steves, of Anchorage, Alaska; and one aunt, Lillian Tisher, of Seligman.

He spent most of his life in Oregon, where he was a carpet layer. During the Korean War he was in the United States Air Force, serving from Sept. 21, 1950, until Nov. 13, 1953. He moved to Missouri eight years ago to be near his Aunt Lillian.

His body has been cremated under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore.
