Paul D. "Pete" Rhodes, Jr., 70, of Shell Knob, passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Pond, Mo., the son of Paul D., Sr. and Viola Helen (Witt) Rhodes. On Dec. 30, 1955, in Ellisville, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Phyllis Weeks, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Paul E. Rhodes and his wife, Joyce, of Rocky Mount; one daughter, Teresa M. Scudder and her husband, Charles, of Cedar Hill; two granddaughters; one grandson; two stepgrandchildren; a stepsister, Anna Lee Bernard, of Toluca, Ill.; his mother-in-law, Alma Weeks, of Farmington; a brother-in-law, Elmer Lee "Sonny" Weeks, of Bonne Terre; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Winningham and her husband, James, of Citrus Springs, Fla., Elizabeth Bowman and her husband, Jim, of Cuba, Mo., and Pam Pace and her husband, John, of Dittmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He received his education in St. Louis County. He was employed several years as a machinist for Orchard Corporation in Crestwood. Pete served in the Air Force Reserve. Before moving to Shell Knob 16 years ago he resided in Ellisville, where he was alderman and a police officer. After his retirement he owned Uncle Pete's Ice Cream in Shell Knob and also Pete's Knife Sharpening. He was a member of Lohmer Full Gospel Church, Shell Knob; Kimberling City Art Guild and Central Crossing Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Lohmer Full Gospel Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Bro. David Donaldson conducted the services. Burial was at Fields Cemetery, Shell Knob.
