William "Bill" Chism passed away Jan. 6, 2009. He was born in Sikeston on Oct. 11, 1930, to Barney and Mabel Chism.

After graduating from Sikeston High School, he joined the Navy. While home on leave he married Melba Clark on Aug. 19, 1952, and she survives. They lived and worked in the St. Louis area for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Purdy in 1993. The couple moved to Springfield in 2000.

Additional survivors include: his sister, Margaret Dinkins; four children, Fritz, Tim and his wife, Leslie, Teresa and her husband, Bobby Wood, and Cindy Hinkle; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at Park Crest Assembly of God Church. Burial was Saturday at Sikeston Memorial Cemetery in Sikeston.

Arrangements were under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home.
