Lothrop Strawn Perkins, 93, of Shell Knob, passed away at his home Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008.

He was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Ottawa, Ill., the son of Lothrop and Vera (LaClair) Perkins. He was united in marriage July 2, 1941, in Baltimore, Md., to Ruth Schirmer, who preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, A. LaClair Perkins, and a twin daughter, Barbara Ann Perkins who died at birth.

Survivors include: one son, Richard L. Perkins and his wife, Marcia, of Eagle Rock; one daughter, Carol P. Creyer, of Shell Knob; two grandchildren; and one great- granddaughter.

He grew up in Ottawa, Ill., where he graduated from high school and was an active Boy Scout, attaining his Eagle Scout Degree. He continued his education at the University of Michigan, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering. He worked as an aeronautical engineer for many years before his retirement from Grumman Aerospace Corp. of Long Island, N.Y. He moved to Shell Knob in 1978. He was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob and Central Crossing Masonic Lodge # 674, Shell Knob.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Dean Wilson will conduct the services.

Friends may call on the family from 5 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob or the Missouri Masonic Home, Kansas City in care of the funeral home.

The body has been cremated under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Burial of the cremains will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, Ottawa, Ill., at a later date.
