R-II School Board accepts resignation, hires employee

The Purdy R-II School Board accepted a resignation and voted to hire a new staff member at its regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 17.

The board approved a letter of resignation submitted by Charles Bowman, middle and high school band teacher, and hired Chris Branstetter as a high school basketball assistant coach for the 2008-09 school year.

The board also approved a three-year contract with Edison Learning. The company will oversee the district's summer school programs in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

In other business, the Purdy R-II School Board:

* Set the filing dates for open school board seats from 8 a.m. on Dec. 16 to 5 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2009.

* Heard a report on the district's special education program.

* Approved a list of substitute teachers.

* Heard administrative reports, which included information on middle and high school math and science curriculum and elementary parent teacher conferences.
