Harlyn E. Harkrider, 84, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, in Living Community Nursing Center, St. Joseph.

He was born Dec. 29, 1923, in St. Joseph, the son of Autie and Glyde (Tucker) Harkrider. On May 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Elsie F. Radeck, who preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two infant children at birth; an adopted son; and a brother.

He received his education in St. Joseph. During World War II he served as a Medic in the United States Army then was a government meat inspector in St. Joseph until his retirement. In 1979 he and Elsie moved to Shell Knob to make their home.

His body was cremated under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob, and will be buried in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob.
