For the second year in a row, Cassville's Uziel Franco has been named the top offensive player in the region.
Last Tuesday, the Class 2 West and Southwest All-Region soccer team was announced and Franco was listed as Offensive MVP as well as being tapped for the All-Region first team.
Franco, a senior, recorded 48 goals this season, which gives him a record-setting career goal total of 103 goals.
Two other Wildcats, senior Luis Ortega and junior Ross Delossantos, received All-Region honorable mention recognition.
Ortega played forward for the Wildcats and tallied eight goals and six assists this season. Delossantos was one of the Wildcats' defenders. This is the first All-Region honor either player has garnered.
In all, the All-Region team included 17 players on the first team and eight honorable mention players. These honors are voted on by all coaches in the region, which consists of 15 teams.
"This is a great honor for these players and for Cassville soccer, and I am very proud of their accomplishments," said Coach Brian Wilbanks. "Now these athletes are in the running for state honors that should be released soon."
Other players named to the All-Region team hailed from Bolivar, Pembroke Hills, Harrisonville, Monett, O'Hara, West Plains, Carl Junction and Marshfield.
