Ozark 7 Conference rivals Joplin McAuley and Southwest advanced to the championship game of the Liberty Bank Lady Cavalier Classic with relative ease. Southwest's Lady Trojans trounced Thomas Jefferson by 40 in the first round, then beat Jasper in the semifinals, 55-34. Likewise, McAuley trimmed Sarcoxie 56-29 and turned back College Heights 49-38 in their semifinal clash.
In the championship game on Saturday, Southwest fed Chelsea Sneed in the post early and often, and then converted clutch free throws in overtime to upset the Lady Warriors 59-53.
Sneed finished with 19 points for the Lady Trojans.
College Heights beat Jasper by a 49-42 margin for third place, and Lockwood beat Diamond in consolation play with a last-second trey, 37-36.
It was Diamond's second heartbreaking loss of the tournament, as they lost to Jasper earlier in the week on a pair of free throws with no time on the clock at game's end.
