Highway ceremony was beautiful event
To the entire Barry County community:
I would like to thank everyone that helped make the dedication of the Christopher Lee Castetter Memorial Highway a reality last week. It was an absolutely beautiful ceremony on what turned out to be a sunny, warm day. Perhaps it was Chris' smile that was bringing down all of that sunshine on those of us that gathered at the site. I am confident that he is proud of the way his community chose to honor him and his life.
On behalf of the family, I would like to extend a special thank you to Donna Allen and Gary Allen. They were both instrumental in the grassroots beginning of this project. A deep thank you also goes to all of the individuals and businesses that donated to the signage, and of course to the staff of the Sheriff's office that canvassed the area for these donations.
Special thanks go out to Rep. David Sater for sponsoring the bill that made the road dedication possible, and also for his thoughtful words at the ceremony. Thank you to Sheriff Epperly and Mayor Holle for their words of support also. Thanks to Lisa Schlichtman of the Cassville Democrat who has covered all of the events related to Chris with sensitivity and dignity. And last, but not least, thanks to the Missouri Department of Transportation for all of their assistance, especially Lori Marble, the community relations manager for District 7. Lori did a fantastic job in coordinating the event, staying in constant communication with all concerned.
The highway designated as Deputy Christopher Lee Castetter Memorial Highway will serve as a reminder for years to come not only of Chris, but also of the sacrifices often made by law enforcement, firefighters and EMS responders. Make sure you stop to thank them for all that they do.
God bless the community,
Palm Coast, Florida
