Charles Forrest "Chuck" Blakely, age 79, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 28, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri.

He was born September 25, 1929, in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of the late Forrest E. and Ruth M. (Walker) Blakely. He graduated from Altamont High School in 1947 and entered Eastern Illinois University that year. On September 6, 1950, he joined the United States Air Force spending thirty-two months in Burtonwood, England and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on August 28, 1954. He then resumed his education at Eastern, where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. On August 28, 1955, he was united in marriage to Glenda R. Stombaugh from Vandalia, Illinois, who preceded him in death in December 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brad Forrest Blakely; great-grandson, Zackery Ward, and an older brother at birth.

On December 31, 1991, he retired as Controller/ Treasurer for Jesco Resources, Inc. in North Kansas City, Missouri. He was also employed by the Vendo Company and Parkview GEM. He was quite active in Ararat Shrine Club until moving to Monett in 1993. He was a loyal member of Altamont Lodge #533, AF&AM, York Rite and Scottish Rite Bodies.

On February 8, 2001, he married Misha Ann Hull, retired Barry County Collector. Chuck often joked "Would she have married me if I had been a Democrat?"

He is survived by his loving wife, Misha; son, Scott Blakely of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, John Blakely and his wife, Judy of Cincinnati, Ohio; granddaughter, Jessica Ward and her husband S/Sgt. Mike Ward, great grandchildren, Natalie, Peyton and Abigale, all of Warrensburg, Missouri, and grandson, Brandon C. Blakely of Independence, Missouri; step-daughter, Symba Boone and her husband, Garth, step-grandsons, Jordan and Aaron all of Republic, Missouri, and many cousins from the Walker and Blakely sides and "Chuck's Chicks."

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Reverend Lee Porch will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday, December 6th at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6th conducted by Worshipful Master, Ben Fine of Pythagoras Lodge # 383 Cassville.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008, in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, Illinois. Pastor Roger Grimmett will conduct the service.

Memorials in memory of Chuck may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63131 or given to the funeral home. PAID
