Wallace Walter "Walt" Day, 74, of Purdy, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.

He was born July 11, 1934, in Washburn, the son of John and Effie (Snook) Day, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Harold Day, Hardy Day, Kenneth "Red" Day and Virgil AB Day and one sister, Helen Day.

Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia DeLagarza and her husband, Jorge, of Houston, Texas, and Anita McManus and her husband, Charles, of Purdy; two sons, Ricky Crouse and his wife, Neila, of Jacksonville, Ark., and Dennis Day and his wife, Michelle, of Pierce City; three sisters, Ruby Fletcher, of Washburn, Mary Murphy, of Butte, Mont., and Alma Smith, of Anderson; two brothers, Johnny Day, of Exeter, and Gail Day, of Monett; 10 grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.

He grew up and received his education at Washburn. He spent his entire life in Barry County. He had been employed at Tyson's catching chickens and later worked as custodian at Exeter Schools. He was a member of Community Faith Chapel, Cassville.

Services were held today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
