Charlotte Joan Walden, 80, of Seligman, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1928, in Adair, Ill., daughter of Leland C. and Hazel (Hoke) Skiles. She was united in marriage to Arlus "Wayne" Walden in Olympia, Wash., in 1953. She was a retiree of the U.S. Civil Service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She worked as a secretary for many different Civil Service Communication offices, which included Ft. Richardson, Alaska, Ft. Lewis, Wash., Ft. Leonard Wood, and Illinois National Guard, Camp Ellis, Ill. She also worked in the Division of Records for the Washington State Highway Patrol, and was a previous employee of the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Rogers, Ark.
Survivors include: her husband of 55 years, Arlus "Wayne" Walden, of Seligman; one son, Darrell Wayne Walden, and his wife, Tammy, of Camdenton; two daughters, Debra Jean (Walden) Davis, of Battlefield, and Julie JoAnn (Walden) Scott, of Battlefield; one brother, Carroll Skiles, of Astoria, Ill.; and four grandchildren. she was preceded in death by one brother, Leland J. Skiles.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Minister Ken West officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Walden Cemetery in Carroll County near Busch, Ark., on Highway 62 with Pastor Bob Scott officiating.
The family will receive friends today (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walden Cemetery or to the Seligman Senior Center and may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home.
