Ribbon cutting held at Pilot's Point Aero Services in SK

The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce recently held a red ribbon cutting ceremony at Pilot's Point Aero Services, which is located three miles east of Turkey Mountain Airport in Shell Knob. The business offers aircraft inspections, maintenance, repairs and damaged aircraft recovery. Owner Mell Johnson trained at the United States Naval Air Station in Lemoore, Calif. He was discharged from the military in 1967 after three tours in Vietnam. Johnson obtained his license in 1971 and worked in general aviation for 11 years before rejoining the Navy. After 30 years of service, he retired from the military in 1998. Later, he worked as director of maintenance at Hanford Flight Services in Hanford, Calif. During this time, he received his inspector authorization certification. In 2006, Johnson and his wife, Dee, retired to Shell Knob.
