Mt. Vernon man killed in crash

A Mt. Vernon man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on County Road 2240 two miles west of Aurora on Sunday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a homemade go cart, driven by Ronnie Dunlap, 40, failed to stop and was hit by a 1997 Dodge pickup, driven by Corey Doyal, 17, of Aurora.

Dunlap was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Larry Eden. The body was taken to Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.

Doyal was not injured in the crash, which occurred at 3:35 p.m.

Other traffic crashes

* On Monday, a Diamond woman was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 97 five miles south of Pierce City. The crash occurred when a 1988 Ford pickup, driven by Debra Blackwell, 39, ran off the roadway and overturned. Blackwell was transported to Cox Monett Hospital. The crash occurred at 7:40 p.m.

*A Shell Knob man sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 86 two miles north of Eagle Rock on Saturday. The crash occurred when a 2003 Toyota Camry, driven by Frank Blackwell, 60, ran off the roadway, down an embarkment and struck a tree. Blackwell was taken to Cox Monett Hospital. The crash occurred at 11:25 p.m.

* On Sunday, a Verona woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Highway C five miles east of Purdy. The crash occurred when a 1997 Ford Ranger, driven by Theresa Trujillo, 24, travelled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Trujillo was taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital. The crash occurred at 4 p.m.
