Gladys (Schell) Doke Ross, 98, of Seligman, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Red Rose Inn of Cassville.

She was born Feb. 1, 1910, at Powell, the daughter of John and Sade (Evans) Schell. On July 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Harold Doke, who preceded her in death in 1971. On Nov. 21, 1983, in Miami, Okla., she married Orin E. Ross, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Harold Eugene "Gene" Doke and his wife, JoNelle, of Seligman; two stepchildren, Donald Ross and Bonnie Hughes; one sister, Pauline Reddick, of Garfield, Ark.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Roscoe, Burl, Ralph and Leon Schell and two sisters, Lula Mae Schell and Ruth Ross.

She grew up and received her education in Powell, and Pea Ridge, Ark. She was the school cafeteria manager for one of the public schools in Tulsa, Okla. She was a true homemaker. She was a member of Church of Christ, Garfield, Ark.

Graveside services were held Monday at Buttram Chapel Cemetery, Pea Ridge, Ark., under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Minister Bobby Vaughn conducted the services.
