Mary Gladys Hendricks, 87, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, in Carroll County Nursing & Rehab, Berryville, Ark.
She was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Trousdale, Kan., the daughter of John and Myrtle (Wilkerson) Brown. On April 9, 1941, in Parsons, Kan., she was united in marriage to William Everett Hendricks, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, a brother and two granddaughters.
Survivors include: a son, George Hendricks and his wife, Barb, of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter, Judy Eves and her husband, Vern, of Golden; seven grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She received her education in Parsons, Kan., and in 1967, moved from Omaha, Neb., to Shell Knob to make her home. She was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church, Solo's, Central Crossing Women's Club and helped in the organizing and opening of the Thrifty Closet. She served as a clerk at voting polls and helped with the county commodity program.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Burial was at Fields Cemetery, Shell Knob. Rev. Dean Wilson conducted the services.
