Shirley Lee Carr, 73, of Cassville, Missouri, died at 3:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008. She died at home peacefully in her sleep with family members at her side.

She was born June 5, 1935, the daughter of Lee Roy and Beulah (Hopkins) McGruder. She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Carr in Springfield, Missouri, on September 30, 1954. Don preceded her in death on January 28, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeffrey Don Carr; one brother, Ken McGruder and one sister, Jane McGruder.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Carr, of Cassville, Missour, and Jim Carr and his wife, Melanie, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; one brother, Jim McGruder and his wife, Connie, of Neosho, Missouri, and seven grandchildren, Amy Carr, Jimmy Carr and Matthew Carr, of Florida, Aaron Carr, Abby Carr and Caroline Carr, of Cassville and Carrie Pace of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shirley was raised in the Wayne Community near Exeter. She was a 1952 graduate of Exeter High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class. Shirley was the President of D-Carr Investments which operates Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, and Long John Silver restaurants in Missouri, Kansas and Florida, as well as the Fastrip Convenience Store in Cassville. Shirley was an avid card player, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her many friends and family. She was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2008, in the Cassville United Methodist Church under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Lee Porch and Reverend Bob Neeley conducted the services. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.

The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, October 19 in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Memorials in memory of Shirley may be made to the Cassville United Methodist Church. Paid
