Thursday, October 16, 2008

The Exeter R-VI School Board reviewed two proposed expenditures at its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 10.

The board reviewed two estimates for a project that would place air conditioning in the district's server room. Poindexter estimated that the project will cost $5,533 and Southwest Heating and Air submitted a $6,000 estimate.

According to the board meeting minutes, the board did not approve either estimate.

The board also reviewed a proposal from the Exeter High School junior class that requested the board purchase a cheese machine for the concession stand located near the Exeter gymnasium.

After reviewing the proposal, board member Natalie Moseley stated that the district already owns a cheese machine. Moseley gave the administrators directions to the machine's location.

In new business, the school board hired Cheryl Lee as a substitute teacher and Teresa Martin as a substitute bus driver for the 2008-09 school year.

In other business, the Exeter R-VI School Board:

* Toured the building project construction site. When completed, the new facilities will include a multipurpose building, a kitchen, classrooms and administrative offices.

* Approved a $169,313.98 payment to Springfield Builder's Incorporated.

* Heard administrative reports, which showed that high school, middle school and elementary school attendance was 96 percent in August.

* Discussed a project for concession stand restrooms.
