CHS Ladycat spikers are nearing end of '08 season

The Cassville Ladycats picked up their sixth win of the season with a 25-20, 25-23 victory over Galena.

Chelsea Addison had four kills in the game, Marti Richmiller had seven assists, and Belinda Long was credited with 15 digs. Other game leaders were Naomi Beck with two blocks and Stephanie Sizemore with two aces.

Last Tuesday, Oct. 7, Cassville hosted East Newton and fell 13-25, 15-25. In that match, Addison, Richmiller and Emily Orrell tallied six digs each while Olivia Cline recorded three kills and five assists. Long added two aces.

The Ladycats also fell to Carl Junction in three games last Thursday night. Cassville won the first game 25-19 before losing the next two 12-25, 19-25.

Team leaders were: Richmiller, 12 digs and six kills; Cline, eight assists; Emily Pry, one block; Addison, two aces; and Orrell, 12 digs.

The Ladycat junior varsity squad celebrated a win over Galena (25-13, 25-20) before suffering a loss against Carl Junction (24-26, 12-25).

Cassville's C team placed second at the Wildcat Invitational held last Saturday. The Ladycats played against Branson, Stafford and Monett in the tournament.

The Ladycats' record now stands at 6-12-3 overall and 1-2 in the Big 8 Conference.

Cassville, coached by Mandy Henry and Desiree Corn, will compete in the Neosho Invitational this weekend before finishing out the regular season with home games against Aurora on Oct. 21 and Seneca on Oct. 23.
