The Cassville Middle School volleyball teams played Mt. Vernon and East Newton during the last week in September. The seventh grade squad picked up two wins and the eighth graders suffered two losses, which were their first two of the season.

Seventh grade leaders in the two games were: Paige Stockton, two saves at the net, one kill and one block; Callie Woolhiser, four digs; Sydney Curnes, two aces; and Katelyn Pitts, one kill.

"The seventh graders are beginning to put some basic volleyball concepts together, and it is paying off," said Coach Treslyn Pollreisz.

Eighth grade leaders in the last two games were: Kimberly Orrell, six digs, three kills and three aces; Brianna Robertson, one block; Ali Hanson, three aces, two digs and several good sets; Katie Hughes, three kills; Keisha Corn, one dig and one kill; Jennifer Allison, several good sets; Skyler Branham, two digs; Christina Willard, one dig; and Courtney Cornelison, two digs.

Coach Pollreisz said she was very proud of the girls during their match against the Lady Patriots.

"They passed, digged, blocked, transitioned and served their hearts out in this game but came up short," said Pollreisz.

The CMS seventh grade squad's record is 4-1 on the young season and the eighth graders' record is 3-2.
