Softball Ladycats fall in districts
The Ladycats played Aurora on Oct. 9 in the opening round of Class 3, District 11 play at Reeds Spring. The game turned out to to be a hard-fought contest.
Cassville was seeded fourth in the district tournament, while Aurora was seeded fifth. The game went into overtime and both teams went scoreless for eight innings. The game was decided when Aurora was able to score a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Lady Houn's a narrow 1-0 victory.
The Ladycats did well at holding Aurora for the majority of the game. Lindsey Turner took the loss but did not give up an earned run while striking out 10 Aurora batters.
Dakota Bowman led the team in hits with two. Courtney Beagle, Turner and Annie Coupland each tallied one hit apiece for a team total of five hits.
Beagle was also credited with one stolen base in the game.
Aurora was only able to gain two more hits than Cassville. The Ladycats committed two errors in the contest while Aurora played error-less softball.
Cassville, coached by Ben Abramovitz and Randy Robertson, end the season with a record of 7-15. Seven of the Ladycats' losses were one-run decisions.
