Alva Gene Craig, 76, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, in his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Cassville, the son of Lewis and Iva (Miller) Craig. On March 16, 1958, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Peggy McGlothlin, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: two sons, Jack Craig, of Cassville and Robert Craig, of Purdy; and five grandchildren.

He received his education at Mt. Zion and Cassville schools. He joined the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving from Feb. 25, 1952, until Aug. 24, 1954. Most of his life was spent near Cassville, where he farmed. He had worked in the hardwood mill at Forrest Products several years and then the Monett Ice Plant, until his retirement.

He was a member of Aurora MFA, Monett IOOF and VFW Post 4205.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield.
