Thursday, October 9, 2008

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Barry County Fight Club traveled to Memorial Hall in Joplin for a competition hosted by Cage of Honor. The event showcased 30 fighters in all, with seven fighters from BCFC entered in the contest.

Jesse Beck fought Base Basvik in a title match that proved to be a loss for Beck by T.K.O. in the first round.

Tom Mizner lost his match in the first round to Auney Castonida at the referee's discretion.

Brian Mizner fought Ryan Patrick and gained a victory by a rear neck choke in the third round.

Jon Gouvion was denied a victory as Charles Bird knocked him out by way of a kick to the head.

John Ausbury accepted an offer to substitute for Chris Drezinski in another title fight after Drezinski suffered a hand injury and could not compete against Ray Clayton. Ausbury, who was at a disadvantage in weight, lost by T.K.O. to the much heavier Clayton.

Buck Mitchell

Buck Mitchell won the number one contender spot for the 145-pound belt after defeating Zack Wells. Mitchell delivered a devastating combination to Wells, using a head kick followed by a guillotine choke-hold in the first round for the defeat. Mitchell will fight Eddie King for the belt in January 2009.

The BCFC will hit the road again to compete in a tournament held in Lebanon at the Lebanon Civic Center on Nov. 21. Fans are encouraged to come and show their support.

Scheduled to make special guest appearances are former Heavyweight Boxing Champion, and co-star of Rocky V, Tommy "The Gun" Morrison, Tonya Harding, professional wrestling star, Bobby Lashley, and former professional wrestling champion, Harley Race.
