On Monday, Sept. 29, the JV Wildcats hosted the Lamar Tigers in hopes of adding another victory to their record after an excellent performance during the previous week.
Lamar received the ball first and quickly put points on the board as the Tigers scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion on their first drive to take an 8-0 lead.
The momentum continued to build as the Tigers took advantage of a series of turnovers and mistakes throughout the game as Cassville was unable to score despite being able to get into scoring range a few times.
Eventually the Tigers closed out the game with a 20-0 victory.
The JV Wildcats hosted the Aurora Houn' Dawgs on Sept. 22 at Wildcat Stadium in a contest that ended with a 24-0 victory for Cassville.
The first quarter of the game was scoreless for both teams, but the second quarter saw Cassville gaining the lead as Bo Blisard was able to connect with Rocky Young for a touchdown pass. Blisard and Seth Myers then went on to hook up in the corner of the end zone for a two-point conversion, leaving the score at 8-0 going into halftime.
Late in the third quarter, the Wildcats were able to extend their lead as Mike Nolan found Young on a halfback pass, which resulted in a touchdown. Blisard went on to complete a pass to Jake Musser for the two-point conversion, putting the score at 16-0.
Cassville sealed the victory during the fourth quarter when Blisard converted a fumbled snap into an option pitch to Myers, who carried the ball 70 yards for a touchdown. Blisard passed to Young once again for the two-point conversion that put the final points of the game on the board, making it a 24-0 win for the Wildcats.
Cassville showed great teamwork and spirit this week as they took command of the game and never allowed Aurora to score.
"Our defense was outstanding tonight," said Coach Jay Rogers. "We shut them down and forced turnovers.
The offense was very successful this week as well, with the offensive line showing much improvement.
