A dedication ceremony will be held at the Table Rock Lake bridge, which has been designated as the State Senator Larry Gene Taylor Memorial Bridge, at 11 a.m. on Oct. 17. The bridge is located on Highway 39 in Shell Knob.
Signs will be placed on the bridge in honor of Taylor, and Representative Jim Viebrock, who put forth the bill to honor his long-time friend and colleague, Senator Jack Goodman, who sponsored the bill in the Senate, and Senator Gary Nodler will speak at the dedication ceremony.
Taylor, who passed away in July of 2005, began his political career when he was appointed as the Director of Public Affairs for the Office of Missouri State Treasurer by Wendell Bailey. Taylor was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2002.
In November 2004, Taylor was elected as the State Senator of the 29th Senatorial District, which includes Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, Ozark, Stone, and Taney counties.
Taylor was a past president of the Barry County Republican Club, a member of the Shell Knob Lions Club and a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.
