The Purdy Branch Library will host Art in the Park from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9. The event will be held in the Purdy City Park.
Art in the Park will feature the Picturing America collection, which the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library received through a grant sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association earlier this year.
The print collection includes reproductions of several American masterpieces and represents a variety of art forms, such as architecture, pottery and textiles. It is designed to promote the study of American history through art.
According to the Picturing America website, the program "conveys common heritage and ideals by bringing individuals face to face with the people, places and events that shaped the country," and "provides an innovative way to experience America's history through art."
All area residents are invited to attend Art in the Park. Refreshments will be served during the event. The Purdy City Park is located on Highway C in Purdy.

Picturing American events will be held at other library branches over the next few months.
