The Purdy Eagles baseball squad recorded four wins this week to boost their record to an impressive 11-1.
On Friday, the Eagles played Wheaton in a double header, winning both games by scores of 5-1 and 11-0. In the first game, Mason Roller hit a solo home run in the third inning and drove in three runs in the sixth to help Purdy's cause. Daniel Barrientos earned the win and Derek Fulp was credited with the save.
The second game was dominated by Purdy from the start.
"We came out a little better in the second game and scored early and often to get a good lead," said Coach Josh Hughes.
Trent Goetz had a bases-loaded triple, and Roller hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Daniel Burnside was Purdy's winning pitcher.
Purdy also earned a 6-3 win over Crane and a 10-5 victory over Billings last week.
Against Crane, Landon Terry got his third single of the game to give Purdy the lead in the seventh inning. Two more runs were enough to give the Eagles the win. Roller had the win on the mound, allowing only one earned run. Goetz earned the save with three straight strikeouts. Chris Bennett and Terry both went three-to-four at the plate.
In the Billings game, Kevin Miller picked up the win, pitching 4.1 innings. Derek Fulp was credited with the save. He didn't give up a hit in 2.2 innings on the mound.
Roller had another home run in the contest with three RBI. Goetz had two doubles and four runs scored.
