Exeter appoints rep to area waste management district

The Exeter City Council appointed a representative to the Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District Council at its regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 12.

The aldermen appointed city employee Doug Keeler to serve as Exeter's representative on the district council. Mayor Rusty Reed will serve as the alternate representative.

In other business, the Exeter City Council:

* Set the 2008 tax rate at 0.4144.

* Approved the bank reconciliations, reviewed the bank balances and voted to pay the monthly bills as presented.

* Voted not to contribute $1,000 to the Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force.

* Approved a trash rate increase to $11.50 per month.
