The Cassville Wildcat soccer team has added two more wins to its already impressive record with victories over Aurora and Columbus, Kan., this past week.

Last Friday, the Wildcats travelled to Aurora to face off against an improved Houn' Dawg squad. Cassville was able to keep the ball down on Aurora's side of the field for most of the game and defeated their hosts 3-0.

At half, Cassville led 1-0 on a goal by Omar Valenzuela, which was assisted by Luis Ortega. The second half saw the Wildcats pick up two more goals. Corey Wilbanks scored on a powerful shot from 30 yards out and then Otto Franco scored off a corner kick by Valenzuela.

Josh Dyer and Michael Rush shared goalkeeping duties and both players were credited with the shut-out.

On Monday night, the Wildcats hosted Columbus, Kan., and were able to absolutely dominate their guests. The final score was 10-0 with Cassville scoring five goals in both halves.

Bryan Schroeder led Cassville's scoring attack with two goals and three assists. Justin Mills and Ortega were also able to score two goals each.

Other Wildcats who tallied a goal were: Franco, Matt Frazier, Matt Angel and Jesus Rivera. Angel and Rivera also picked up assists in the victory.

The team, which is coached by Brian Wilbanks and Jonathan Winslow, now enjoys a record of 4-1. The Wildcats played at Carl Junction on Tuesday night and continue on the road with games at Neosho on Sept. 25 and at College Heights in Joplin on Sept. 30.

A key game for the Wildcats is scheduled for next Thursday, Oct. 2 when Cassville hosts Monett and looks to avenge an early season loss to their rivals.
