Madge Patton, age 92, of Monett, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008, in Cox-Monett Hospital.
She was born July 24, 1916, in Turon, Kansas, the daughter of John Q. and Marie (Crume) Adams. On July 29, 1938, in Cassville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Donald Patton, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Selah Farmer; three brothers, Joe, Don and Charles Hadley and a granddaughter, Christine Patton.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Ray Patton and his wife, Audrey of Branson, Missouri and Donald Eugene Patton and his wife, Cathy of Monett; two daughters, Fairy Marie Essary and her husband, Dennis of Monett and Mary Ella Frieze of Verona, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Donald Ray Essary and his wife, Connie of Monett, Martin Daniel Essary and his wife, Nikki of Belleville, Illinois, Sandra Ella Culver and her husband, Doug of Verona, Antonio Dean Frieze of Verona, Steve Kevin Frieze of Walnut Grove, Missouri, Debbra Rumsey of Branson, Bevan Patton and his wife, Tracy of Branson, Sherry Lynn Hull and her husband, Brian of Monett and Roger Eugene Patton and his wife, Lea of Springfield, Missouri; thirteen great grandchildren, Lacy Creed, Darren Essary, Layna Essary, Jennifer Suckey, Renee Culver, Patience Rumsey, Kaegan Rumsey, Tiffany Yuin, Josh Alsbury, Duane Alsbury, Tiffany Hull, Megan Hull and Roman Michael Patton; six great-great grandchildren, Drew Creed, Noah Creed, Colton Suckey, Amelia Suckey, Brynne Suckey and Tala Alsbury and two sisters-in-law, Eunice Lyall and Christine Patton, both of Cassville.
Madge received her education in Barry and Lawrence Counties in Missouri and was a lifelong resident of the area. She loved to watch and feed her birds, to grow flowers and sweet potatoes and enjoyed dancing and reading. Most of all, Madge loved people and being with her entire family.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cassville. Gary Lester conducted the services.
