David M. Basler, 65, of Webb City, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Freeman West in Joplin. David was born on July 14, 1943, in Anna, Ill., to James and Ruby Godfrey Basler. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Joplin Parks and Recreation. He also worked for the Joplin Globe.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol A. Newberry Basler, whom he married Aug. 3, 1990, in Branson; daughters, Kim Carter and husband, Hank, of Stella, and Kasha Driskill and husband Aaron, of Billings; stepsons, Douglas Jones, of Erie, Penn., and Scott Jones, of New Orleans, La.; three brothers, Randy Basler, Rick Basler and Ron Basler all from Herrin, Ill.; sister, Becky Miller, of Shiloh, Ill.; step-mother, Marie Basler, of Herrin, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Sept. 19 at the Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City. Graveside services were held on Saturday with full military honors at the Idemea Baptist Church Cemetery in Laquey.
Arrangements were under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
