The Southwest Lady Trojans softball team earned convincing wins over Sarcoxie and College Heights to boost their early season record to 4-2.
On Sept. 9, Southwest travelled to Joplin to play College Heights. The Lady Trojans dominated the game and won 12-2. Haley Clifton picked up the win on the mound with six strike-outs and no walks.
Kelsey Henry had a good night at the plate with a home run, triple and one RBI. Lacey Corn also had a good outing with two singles, a double and two RBI.
Other Lady Trojan hit leaders were: Sarah Conley, one double; Haley Clifton, one double; Chelsea Sneed, two singles and one RBI; Stacy Hobbs, two singles; Hannah Clifton, one double; Aleesa Randall, one single; and Kirstie Ickes, one single.
Southwest hosted Sarcoxie on Sept. 5 and claimed its first home win with a 9-0 shut-out. Hannah Clifton pitched this game and did not allow a run. Henry served as her battery mate.
The Lady Trojans' top hitters were: Ickes, one triple, one double and one RBI; Conley, one double; and Hannah Clifton, one double and two RBI.
