John William Ferguson, 70, of Cassville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at his home.
He was born March 21, 1938, in Greensboro, N.C., the son of John Hurley Hampton and Virginia Dare (Langley) Ferguson. On May 15, 1965, he was united in marriage to Lou Brewer, who survives.
Additional survivors include: his mother, Virginia Ferguson, of High Point, N.C.; one son, John William Ferguson, Jr.; one daughter, Charlea Dair Milner. of Independence; one sister, Joan Clark and her husband, J.P., of High Point, N.C.; three grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Ella Brewer Townsend, of Viola, Ark.; four sisters-in-law, Sue Mercer, of Kansas City, Linda Gentry and her husband, Larry, of Topeka, Kan., Dorothy Fry and her husband, Jerry. of Eudora, Kan. and Brenda Smith and her husband, Mike, of Richmond, Texas; one brother-in-law, Mark Brewer and his wife, Carol, of Viola, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Little John, as a lot of people knew him, received his education in Liberty, N.C. From 1956 until 1962, he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge. In 1976, he moved to Cassville to make his home, where he was owner/partner of J & J Rebuilders since 1985.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Bob Neeley conducted the services. Burial with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Eudora City Cemetery, Eudora, Kan.
