Cassville R-IV School District patrons will have the opportunity to tour the new Cassville Intermediate School during a public open house and dedication on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Interested citizens are invited to meet in the intermediate school library for a short welcome by Superintendent Jim Orrell and Principal Jill LeCompte followed by guided tours of the facility.
"This is the community's opportunity to come and see every aspect of the building," said Orrell.
Although the district began using the facility last spring, flooding caused some issues at the new building and it took most of the summer for those issues to be resolved.
"The open house is late, but as early as we could possibly have it," said Orrell.
The 2008-09 school year will mark the facility's first full year of operation. The new 55,000-square-foot, two-story intermediate school houses classrooms for third through fifth grade students. It was built on school-owned property north of the J.C. Duncan Gymnasium.
The $5 million intermediate school project was financed by a $7.1 million bond issue that district voters approved in April of 2006.
