Purdy hears CSIP presentation

The Purdy R-II School Board heard a presentation on the comprehensive school improvement plan (CSIP) during its regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 18.

High School Principal Bob Vice delivered the CSIP presentation, which included an overview of the district's major objectives.

"The majority of the objectives concerned student achievement, in the areas of curriculum, writing process instruction, supplemental instruction for targeted sub-populations, test-taking skill instruction, special services instruction, Title I services, at-risk identification and assistance and attendance," said Vice.

After the presentation, the board unanimously approved the district's CSIP.

In new business, the board approved the following handbooks for the 2008-09 school year: transportation department; elementary, middle and high school student; faculty; and support staff.

The board also heard administrative reports by Elementary School Principal Jeff Swadley, Middle School Principal Janet Boys, Vice and Superintendent Jerry Lingo.

In other business, the Purdy R-II School Board:

* Readopted the board's conflict of interest and financial disclosure policy.

* Approved the 2008-09 transportation routes.

* Increased the assistant baseball coach stipend to $2,000 for the fall and spring sports seasons.

* Held an executive session to evaluate and employ certified staff members.
