Thursday, September 11, 2008

The Ozark Festival Orchestra will began rehearsals on Sept. 9 for its 2008-09 season. The classical music orchestra rehearses at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Monett City Hall Auditorium.

Performances will be on Sunday afternoons this season. Music director Ken Meisinger will be back for an unprecedented 10th season.

The first concert will be at 3 p.m. on Oct. 12 at Monett City Hall. The Christmas concert will be on Dec. 7 at a church in Neosho, and December 14 at a church in Monett. The Christmas concert will again be a collaboration with the Crowder College Community Choir on the Nine Lessons and Carols, based on the traditional program from Kings College in Cambridge, England.

The season will continue at 3 p.m. on Feb. 15 and March 29 at Monett City Hall Auditorium. The March 29 concert will be the 10th annual Young Artists Concert. Young people from smaller communities across southwest Missouri will audition for the opportunity to perform with the orchestra on single movements from concertos or shorter works with orchestra and soloist.

The season will conclude with a pie-and-ice-cream fundraiser for the orchestra as the OFO's annual Pops in the Park program. That will be on

the afternoon of May 3.

Instrumentalists who would like to play are invited to call Meisinger at 417-623-6646.
