David Nokes, 80, of Cassville, passed away on Aug. 16, 2008, in the home of his daughter, Deborah Nokes Whitaker.
He was born July 2, 1928, in the Ray House at wilson's Creek National Battlefield, the son of Frank and Mabel (Herndon) Nokes. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two brothers, John Nokes and Roy Nokes, and his wife Freida Nokes.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Deborah Whitaker and her husband, Mark, and Tamara Wilson; one son, David Nokes, Jr. and his wife, Beverly; and five grandchildren.
A family memorial service will be held graveside at Payne Cemetery on Saturday.
