Blue Springs man killed in plane crash

A Blue Springs man was killed when a small plane crashed between Shell Knob and Cassville on Aug. 10. According to media reports, Theodore Anderson, 77, was killed when his plane crashed in Hailey Hollow at around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Residents who live near the crash site notified the Barry County Sheriff's Department about the crash shortly after it occurred. Local property owners also located the crash site and assisted first responders in reaching the wreckage, which was located in a remote area.

Officials believe Anderson had taken off from the Turkey Mountain airstrip in Shell Knob, which is located less than 10 miles from the crash site.

The Federal Aviation Administration plans to begin a full investigation of the crash today.
