Exeter votes to re-open alley near Commercial

Thursday, August 7, 2008

The Exeter City Council voted to re-open a fenced alley near Commercial Street in Exeter at its regularly scheduled meeting on July 8.

The aldermen voted to remove a fence that has been installed in the alley at 114 West Commercial St. and obtain a permit from the Missouri Department of Transportation to install a culvert at the intersection of the alley and Highway 76/86.

"We didn't know we had an alley there until recently," said Myrna Eisenbraun, city clerk. "The property has been fenced, because the owner at the end of the alley has a dog.

"We plan to open the alley to access Highway 76/86," said Eisenbraun. "Having the alley open will be very helpful when city employees are reading meters. Right now they have to back up. After the alley is open, they will be able to drive right through."

In other business, the Exeter City Council approved the bank reconciliations, reviewed bank balances and voted to pay the bills as presented.
