County crashes leave two dead
A Golden man was killed and his two passengers were seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on Highway J one mile north of Golden on Sunday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a 2003 Hyundai, driven by Ronald Chadwick, 60, drove off the left side of the roadway and overturned several times. Chadwick and his passengers, Joseph Tolbert, 27, of Cassville, and Justin Roberts, 34, of Berryville, Ark., were ejected from the vehicle.
Chadwick was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Skip White. The body was taken to White Funeral Home in Cassville.
Tolbert and Roberts were transported to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
The Patrol report indicated that Chadwick, Tolbert and Roberts were not wearing seat belts when the crash occurred at 5:10 p.m.
Other traffic crashes
* On Saturday, a Shell Knob man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Farm Road 2270 four miles southwest of Shell Knob. The crash occurred as Curtis Ayers, 43, who was driving a 1982 Harley Davidson motorcycle, lost control, skidded across the centerline and struck a 2004 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Bert Oakleaf, 63, of Wichita, Kan., head on. Ayers was pronounced dead at the scene by White. The body was taken to White's Funeral Home in Cassville. Oakleaf was not injured in the crash, which occurred at 3:30 p.m.
* A Purdy man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on Highway F five miles north of Eagle Rock last Thursday. The crash occurred as Kristyn Finocchiaro, 18, of Cassville, lost control on a hilltop, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Finocchiaro and her passengers, Janna Cantrell, 25, of Cassville, and Matt Shuey, 20, were transported to St. John's Hospital-Cassville. Finocchiaro and Cantrell sustained moderate injuries and Shuey sustained serious injuries in the crash, which occurred at 12:05 a.m.
* On Saturday, a Cassville man was moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash on County Road 2150 four miles north of Cassville. The crash occurred when a 2001 Ford F150, driven by Myron Hoffman, 36, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Hoffman was taken to St. John's Hospital-Cassville. The crash occurred at 8:45 p.m.
* A Monett woman sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 37 at Butterfield on Monday. The crash occurred when a 1986 Ford, driven by Christina Marshall, 26, of Monett, failed to yield and pulled into the path of a 2006 Kia, driven by Donna Wimsatt, 67. Wimsatt was taken to Cox Monett Hospital. The crash occurred at 5 p.m.
