Two teens hurt in crash on 76
Last Wednesday, a Shell Knob teen and a Cape Fair teen were moderately injured in a one-vehicle crash on Highway 76 four miles west of Cape Fair.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when Kirsten Gidding, 17, of Shell Knob, who was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, was traveling at an excessive speed and lost control on a curve at a hill crest.
Gidding's vehicle crossed the centerline, exited the left side of the road and struck a ditch. The vehicle then overturned several times and went through a barbed wire fence before coming to rest in a pasture.
Gidding and her passenger, Taylor Giddings, 16, of Cape Fair, were taken to St. John's Hospital in Berryville, Ark.
The Patrol report indicated that both teens were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred at 3 p.m.
