Mary Jane Brooks, 52, Fayetteville, Ark., formerly of Purdy, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the Circle of Life Hospice & Palliative Care in Springdale, Ark., following a brief illness.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1955, in Auburn, Calif., daughter of Johnnie and Wilma Bailey. Her family returned to Barry County in 1962 where they made their home in Purdy. She attended elementary school in Cassville and graduated from Monett High School in 1973. She moved to Fayetteville, Ark., in 1982 where she owned and operated Janie's Day Care for 26 years. She was a member of the East Side Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ark.
She married Troy Brooks on May 9, 1982, in Fayetteville, Ark., and he survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons: Kelly Crawford and his wife, Jennifer, of Fayetteville, Ark., Rick Crawford, of Springdale, Ark., and Kenny Brooks, of Farmington, Ark.; one daughter, Cynthia Brooks, of Springdale, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Montie Bailey and his wife, Nancy, of Fayetteville, Ark., Mike Bailey and his wife, Cherry, of Cassville, and David Bailey and his wife, Lynette, of Monett; two sisters, LeVeta Goldin and her husband, Morry, of Republic, and Betty Hicks and her husband, Larry, of Wheelersburg, Ohio; and one adopted sister, Linda Williams, of Fayetteville, Ark.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, with Pastor Lloyd Thomas and Pastor James Goff officiating. Burial was at Antioch Cemetery, Cassville.
Memorials may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home for the Cancer Support House in Fayetteville, Ark.
Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home in Cassville.
