A total of 12 players from Barry County were named to the Joplin Globe All-Area baseball team last week.
Headlining the group were first team members Kelby Haynes, of Cassville, and Mason Roller, of Purdy.
Haynes, a senior, was selected as an infielder after hitting .404 this season with 17 RBI. Roller, a junior, was nominated as a utility man after he batted .507 this season with three home-runs and 40 RBI.
Ryan Veith, a senior from Purdy, was the county's only selection to the second team.
Nine more players received honorable mention recognition. They are: senior Jody Cavness, catcher, Cassville; senior Michael Baker, first base, Cassville; junior Aaron Jamieson, outfield, Cassville; senior Derek Dailey, catcher, Purdy; senior Josh Wiseman, pitcher, Purdy; junior Chris Bennett, third base, Purdy; sophomore Josh Hartin, shortstop, Southwest; sophomore Levi Roberts, utility player, Southwest; and senior Chase Higgs, catcher, Exeter.
