The Southwest Trojans will hold their ninth annual Southwest Cross Country Camp the last two full weeks of July. Sessions will run from July 14-18 and July 21-25, starting at 6:45 a.m. each morning in the parking lot of Rose's Cafe in downtown Washburn.
The camp is offered free to all interested Southwest boys and girls middle school and high school runners.
Camp director is Lee Stubblefield, who is beginning his 10th season as the varsity coach of the Trojans. Under Stubblefield's tutelage, Southwest teams have won four state trophies, including the 2000 boys state championship, and produced 15 boys and three girls All-State performances.
"I want to stress that the camp is for runners of all competition levels, not just the All-State hopefuls," said Stubblefield. "Besides being a great sport in its own right, cross country provides great conditioning for off-season athletes from the other sports teams."
