Jimmy Dale Johnson, 65, of Cassville, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his home in Cassville.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1942, in Vian, Okla., son of Marzy and Imo (Breashears) Johnson. After graduating high school he enlisted into the United States Navy. During his service time, he was chief petty officer and participated in action with five tours during the Vietnam War. He retired after 20 years of service on Aug. 2, 1979. He received his bachelor's degree in arts and science from Connors State College in Warner, Okla. He moved to Cassville from Tulsa to make his home 15 years ago.
Survivors include: his mother, Imo Johnson, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sons, Martin Johnson,and his wife, Christie, of Tulsa, Okla., Everett Johnson, of Hampton, Va., and Jason Johnson, of Hampton, Va.; two daughters, Pamela McKenzie, and her husband Eric, of Tulsa, Okla., and Judy Johnson-Wright, and her husband, Curtis, of Durant, Okla.; one sister, Shirley Smith, and her husband, Bobby L., of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel Johnson.
Graveside services with military honors were held on Tuesday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield with Marine Chaplin Ray Glynn officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Marine Corp League Detachment Burial Team #993, with flag presentation by the NOSC Springfield Funeral Honors Team.
Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
