ERGM fire district to use 911 number

Thursday, June 19, 2008

To the patrons of the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Protection District:

We are ready to use the emergency number 911 exclusively. If you have an emergency medical situation or fire, dial 911. By dialing 911, you will save time in our response to you.

The old number to this fire department may send you to a recorder that tells you how to properly call for help. But it is a loss of time. Use the new 911 number at all times from now on. It has always been our desire to respond to calls for help as quickly as possible and the new 911 number will help.

Also the 911 system is going to have reverse 911 where the emergency center can call every phone in Barry County and alert you to tornadoes or disastrous weather approaching.

Many years ago, the fire department used a CB to communicate, then a fire bar that put several telephones on one line. That is what is in use now. That system is going to be eliminated for the number 911.

If you have any questions feel free to call the fire department at 271-3642 or me at 271-4182.
