Aubrey Melvin Rollins, 83, of Washburn, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Fayetteville Veterans Home, Fayetteville, Ark.

He was born July 11, 1924, in Bogue Chitto, Miss., the son of Jeremiah and Ella (Kaiser) Rollins. On May 25, 1966, in Covington, La., he was united in marriage to Phyllis (Shipley) Dalton, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two daughters, Judy Holt, of Seligman, and Carla Rollins, of Washburn; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.

He received his education in Johnson Station, Miss. He joined the United States Navy during World War II and served on a submarine in the American Theatre and Asiatic Pacific. After his discharge, he worked for the Irby Power Line Construction in Jackson, Miss. In 1975, he moved to Missouri and worked for the Killoren Power Line Construction out of Bentonville, Ark.

Funeral services were held Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial with military honors was at Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.
