Thursday, June 5, 2008

The Cope farm near Jenkins will host a public tour at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

According to Tim Schnakenberg, an agronomy specialist with University of Missouri Extension, MU Extension specialists and members of the Cope family will review efforts to battle brush using goats.

"On this tour attendees will learn about all kinds of brush control efforts in pasture including the use of goats, herbicides and aerial spray application," said Schnakenberg.

Eldon Cole, livestock specialist with MU Extension, has arranged a visit from Art Goetsch, of Langston University in Oklahoma, who will discuss goat production management.

The tour will begin along Highway 248 a mile and a half east of Highway 39 near Jenkins. The tour will start at the red-painted farm gate on the south side of the road.
