The Presidential Fitness challenge helps to motivate children to have an active lifestyle and is a great tool to help students set fitness goals that relate to five fitness components.
The Presidential award acknowledges those students who score at or above the 85th percentile on all five items tested. The National award acknowledges those students who score at or above the 50th percentile on all five items tested.
The five fitness components tested were: flexibility, quickness, endurance, abdominal strength and upper body strength.
Nine students received the Presidential Award. They were: Jade Halloway, Brittni Long, Shannon Haney, Abby Rose, Keenon Roller, Riley Wilson, Jessica Haney, Anthony Tolbert and Ashlea Large.
School records were set in the following category: Gabe Kirk, 65 sit-ups; and Matthew Wilson, 15 pull-ups.
A total of 191 students in first through fifth grade qualified for the National Award. These students are listed below by grade level.
